Kate Shimota joined the sports performance staff in the fall of 2018, and she coordinates care for the baseball team.

Prior to arriving at Northeastern, she worked at Emerson College and Boston University. Kate obtained her master’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Georgia in 2016 where she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the volleyball team. She completed her bachelor’s degree in athletic training at Boston University in 2014. While at BU, she was a member of the medical committee for the Boston Marathon.

Kate is a certified athletic trainer, licensed in the state of Massachusetts, and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. Additionally, she is an emergency medical technician through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Her professional interests include emergency medicine, primary care, and upper extremity injury evaluation and rehabilitation.
